Un testo inedito di Syd Barrett, apparso una sola volta sulla storica e ormai introvabile fanzine britannica “All The Poets”, “caduto” a Londra nelle mani di Luca Chino Ferrari (tra i maggiori conoscitori di Barrett e autore della sua prima biografia) nel 1984, in circostanze che potremmo definire fortuite. Imperdibile per gli appassionati di Barrett, dei Pink Floyd, della psichedelia.
“(…) sul primo numero della fanzine, tra le poesie e gli aforismi pubblicati, i curatori avevano incluso anche un altro testo inedito di Barrett, sovrimpresso a un ritratto a matita rossa del suo volto, con alcuni provini di foto in bianco e nero risalenti al 1971. Entrambi i testi White li aveva ricevuti da Storm Thorgerson, fondatore dello studio Hipgnosis, amico intimo di Barrett. Ecco quindi il testo, assolutamente inedito da allora (anche perché la fanzine, in tiratura molto limitata, è ormai introvabile)”.
Luca Chino Ferrari (Cremona, 1963) è uno scrittore musicale e paroliere italiano. Autore della prima biografia mondiale dell’artista ‒ Tatuato sul Muro. L’enigma di Syd Barrett (Gammalibri, 1986) ‒ lo ha incontrato e ha contribuito alla riunione della Third Ear Band negli anni ’80. Ha gestito le fanzine italiane su Pink Floyd e Syd Barrett dal 1979. Ha scritto libri anche su Third Ear Band, Pink Floyd, Robyn Hitchcock, Captain Beefheart, Tim Buckley, Mike Taylor, oltre ad articoli e recensioni per riviste come Ciao 2001, Vinile, Buscadero e Rockerilla. Numerose le sue traduzioni e curatele di libri, booklet e cataloghi. Ha dato vita, con Francesco Paolo Paladino, alla band His Majesty The Baby e, con Dorothy Moskowitz, alla band Dorothy Moskowitz & The United States Of Alchemy, per le quali ha scritto i testi di due album. An unpublished lyric by Syd Barrett, appeared only once in the historic and now unobtainable British fanzine “All The Poets”, “fell” in London into the hands of Luca Chino Ferrari (one of the greatest experts on Barrett and author of his first biography) in 1984, in circumstances that we could define as fortuitous. A must-have for fans of Barrett, Pink Floyd, and psychedelia.
“(…) in the first issue of the fanzine, among the poems and aphorisms published, the editors had also included another unpublished lyric by Barrett, superimposed on a red pencil portrait of his face, with some black and white photo contact sheets dating back to 1971. White had received both texts from Storm Thorgerson, founder of the Hipgnosis studio, a close friend of Barrett. Here is the text, absolutely unpublished since then (also because the fanzine, in a very limited edition, is now unobtainable)”.
Luca Chino Ferrari (Cremona, 1963) is an Italian writer and lyricist. Author of the first world biography of the artist ‒ Tatuato sul Muro. L’enigma di Syd Barrett (Gammalibri, 1986) ‒ he met him and contributed to the reunion of the Third Ear Band in the 80s. He has managed the Italian fanzines on Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett since 1979. He has also written books on Third Ear Band, Pink Floyd, Robyn Hitchcock, Captain Beefheart, Tim Buckley, Mike Taylor, as well as articles and reviews for magazines such as Ciao 2001, Vinile, Buscadero and Rockerilla. He has translated and edited numerous books, booklets and catalogues. With Francesco Paolo Paladino, he founded the band His Majesty The Baby and, with Dorothy Moskowitz, the band Dorothy Moskowitz & The United States Of Alchemy, for which he wrote the lyrics for two albums.
